warts are local growths in the skin that are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Although they are considered to be contagious, it is very common for just one family member to have them. Types of warts
Plantar warts are found on the bottom of the foot.

Cause of Warts
The main cause of warts is a virus infection of the skin. Warts can be caused by 100 different strains of human papillomavirus (HPV). These viruses exist naturally on human skin, so when a person's immune system is illness or medications. he or she is at a higher risk of contracting the virus. Common, plantar, or plane warts can be acquired through something as simple as a cut. Walking barefoot in public areas is also a high-risk activity for contracting warts. Genital warts are more serious and also the most contagious.
Treatment of Warts
Most of the warts do not need treatment and disappear within few months or years of its appearance. Around 20-25 percent of the warts are found to disappear in three months time. The duration is dependent on the changes in resistance of the body to the HPV virus. One need treatment for warts if they become painful or is posing as cosmetic problem. One can get home remedy to treat warts. One of the popular treatments is to apply salicylic acid paint on the wart and rubbing it over with pumice stone. One can go to a chiropodist or doctor for urgent treatment.
Home Remedies for Warts
Onions are also valuable in warts. They are irritating to the skin and stimulate the circulation of the blood. Warts sometimes disappear when rubbed with cut onions.
Marigold is another herb found beneficial in the treatment of warts. The juice of the leaves of this plant can be applied beneficially over warts. The sap from the stem has also been found beneficial in the removal of warts.
Castor oil is one of the most important home remedies for warts. This oil should be applied generously over the affected parts every night.
The herb Indian squill is useful in removing warts. A powder of the bulb of this herb should be applied locally over the affected area for beneficial results.
