When you harshly restrict your calorie intake your metabolism takes a nose dive. This is important because it is your metabolism that burns fat. And this drop is a huge one, in fact your metabolism can drop up to 50% in one week of heavy calorie restriction. Something you absolutely do not need when your goal is weight loss for summer season.
The reason this happens is because your body has hormones that drift around and detect when things change inside you. There is one hormone in particular called leptin who takes on the responsibility of alerting the brain when there is a fear of starvation. This is the one that start the metabolism problems because when you diet and take in less food day after day, leptin picks up on this.
Now leptin can not tell that you are voluntarily eating less to lose weight, it just knows something has changed and it doesn't want you to die of starvation so it tells the brain what is happening and then the brain puts the brakes on your metabolism which causes you to save your stored energy, i.e. FAT!

You must diet for 6 days a week keeping strict to your plan but then on day 7 you must boost your metabolism by eating...A LOT. Think about this, on day 7 you wake up and have a big pancake breakfast, fast food, pizza, ice cream or any favorite food and in fact, research shows that you MUST eat this way to get your metabolism up to normal levels.
Yes, I know you are thinking you are just going to gain all the weight back that you lost during the week but the small gain in water weight that results from eating all the carbohydrates on the cheat day are balanced by the fact that your metabolism is humming at a high rate for the rest of the week and by the end of the week your weight will be lower as a result of eating this way and your weight loss will be faster, helping you reach your summertime goal.
