What does Biological Standard Stand For?

Posted: Nov 07, 2009 |

Biological standard actually denotes the standard of living of the human beings. Various factors are included when calculating the biological standard of living including the socio-economic and epidemiological environment. The researchers on biological standards argue that health is one dynamic part of our social well-being. Though non-monetary, if the frequency and duration of sickness does not decrease over a time period, you are not well off as before.

The concept being introduced in 1989 by John Komblos was very unacceptable not unrealistic but now that the organic world looks more factual; people have started to take notice. John Komlos studied how the economic development can lead to or be a cause of a rise or fall in the biological standards. It affects people psychologically mainly.

WHO has set up an expert committee in each country all over the world to make sure that people understand this incomprehensible aspect and start working on it. Working since 1947, WHO also becomes a platform to compare the statistics from the world. They have set up international standards of competency and expect everyone to achieve it.

Very recently, in a conference attended by 35 countries, WHO announced that they have been able to control low scale chronic diseases. Biotechnology products are being used religiously world over now.

The standards set by the WHO are very strict and they start from taking an animal to the slaughterhouse, slaughtering date and registration of animal parts and keeping them organic while being kept in suitable environment. There are certain prodecures in place to strengthen these standards to keep the value of organic food at top.
