What Is Bipolar Disease And What You Can Do About it

Bipolar disease is medically described as mood disorder. It is better known as bipolar disorder and being a mood disorder, there can be many causes and indications that may culminate at bipolar disease. The patients who are affected with bipolar disease go through spells of depression and mania.

They follow a cyclic pattern and the moods may shift from euphoria along with a tinge of irritability to a state of melancholy and hopelessness. The persons between these two extremes feel entirely normal. They will display any sign of going through erratic moods. This interlude of normalcy that happens between the moods swings is a trait of bipolar disease.

Even though, it is usual for others to regard the bipolar disease affected person as crazy or mentally disturbed, the symptoms can be very serious and even life threatening. How drastically the disorder can bring down the quality of life is seen from the fact the effects of bipolar disease include alcoholism, drug addiction, financial mismanagement and marital breakdown. The decline of the quality of one’s life is that the effects of Bipolar Disease can include alcohol abuse, drug abuse, unemployment and marital break-ups.

The bipolar disease comprises both depression as well as manic depression symptoms which include sadness, low self esteem, lack of interest in all activities, over sleep, insomnia, lack of concentration, suicidal thoughts, ineptitude body pain and more. The manic symptoms include limitless energy, excessive self importance, spending spree, lack of self control, alcoholism and drug addiction etc. The factors that may increase the risk of developing bipolar disease are: ? Major life changes, such as the death of a loved one If ignored, bipolar disorder can result in severe emotional problems that may have repercussions in every area of your life.

Complications that bipolar disorder is associated with include: ? Suicide ? Drug and alcohol abuse ? Legal problems ? Financial troubles ? Problems in Relationships ? Loneliness ? Low performance at work place or school If you find in you or your close ones, any symptom of bipolar disorder, immediately seek medical help. Remember bipolar disease doesn't disappear if you just ignore. Still it is a pity that there are many people suffering from this disorder without getting the proper medical attention in time.
