There are several ways one can use to know how to build your own shed. After making a plan and getting materials, there are factors that you should consider when building the shed.
The most important of these factors is the base that the shed will have. Whenever you are building anything, the foundation should be done in a very strong way as this is used to support the building.
The best foundation for any shed would be a concrete slab. Though this will require a considerable amount of effort, you will find that it is always the best option.
A basic slab should have dimensions of between 100mm to 4 inches thick. The dimensions can vary depending on the size of the shed and also the amount of work that will be done on the shed.
Tips that you are seeing here should be seriously considered when you are looking for ideas on how to build your own shed. When you think of building a wooden shed, it is normal for you to have a wooden floor.
You should be careful not to put the wood on the ground because no matter how preserved the wood is, putting it on the soil will lead to it getting rot. This means that you will need to put something below the wooden floor to avoid its direct contact with the soil.
The best material that one can use to put on the floor of their shed is the paving slabs. Slabs like this can go a long way in making a permanent base and it is also the best tip on how to build your own shed base.
The steps below will show you how you can design a shed base using slabs. First and foremost, mark out the area that the shed will occupy. Clear this area of any vegetation and try to level it as much as possible.
Next, lay out a string line along two edges of the shed. Lay the first slab in the corner. Make sure it is level by use of a spirit level. Repeat this process until all the slabs are level and in place.
Before you place your wooden floor on the slabs, make sure you apply the underside with several coats of preservative because you will not be able to do it again.
