Demand for Canada Vacation Homes Predicted to Increase

As the Beijing Olympics is a big hit, the Olympics Games coming to Vancouver in 2010 is already awaited and is causing an increase in demand for Canada vacation home rentals in the surrounding areas. This isn’t a surprise, especially if we look at past statistics.

For example, Salt Lake City, which hosted the most recent Winter Olympics, received approximately 220,000 visits from athletes, members of the press, Olympics officials, and of course, spectators. If we assume that the same number of visitors arrives in Vancouver in February 2010, there is actually a shortage of Canada vacation home rentals in the area and the cities near it must satisfy this short-term housing demand.

It is said that the 2010 Winter Olympics event venues spans 120 kilometers from Richmond, south of Vancouver, to Whistler, two hours away from Vancouver. Vancouver, as we know has a large population and has a scattering of hotels but most of them are really costly. This is why new housing solutions such as Canada vacation home rentals.

At present, different proposals have been made to address this housing issue. This includes a proposal for short term lodging on cruise ships in Squamish and to modify shipping containers to become construction trailers for Whistler workers. But the number of private homeowners who are having their houses rented is becoming one of the top choices. As a matter of fact, according to estimates in January this year, more than 30 residents from Vancouver, Squamish, and Whistler are planning to have their houses rented by visitors for the 2010 Olympics.

Several studies have published that the possible asking price for the period of the 2010 Olympics will amount to around Canadian $343 per bedroom for those vacation houses which in the city of Vancouver. Canada vacation home rentals in the periphery of the city are estimated to cost around Canadian $268 per bedroom per night.

For tourists, the increase in the number of Canada vacation home rentals is a good sign as it enables more people to watch the Winter Olympics, especially now with almost all prices increasing. Hotels are very costly and have limited space so families will have to rent several rooms and this will certainly be a deterrent for those who are planning to make Vancouver a holiday destination.

Thankfully, most Canada vacation homes have more space and are usually priced lower than hotel rooms. Plus, the amenities provided with the houses serves to make their stay more comfortable. Aside from this, services such as cooking, laundering and housekeeping can also be packaged in with the vacation home rentals.

Another advantage to renting out vacation homes is that there are already so many available for rent so you can choose which unit will cater to your needs, and which property you will be most comfortable. Whether you are looking for accommodation at the center of town or you want to be in the hinterlands, you can find the perfect temporary home from the internet through websites which has several property listings.
