If you’ve said it once, you’ve said it a million times. “This year I will ____.” Maybe you want to eat healthier food, lose weight, or spend more time with your kids. Maybe you want to lose your pregnancy weight once and for all. How would you fill in the blank?
Do you know anyone who has given up on making New Year’s resolutions? It’s easier to aim for nothing, after all you don’t have to live with the guilt of broken promises. But when you dare to dream and put a plan of action into place, you will grow into a better person. The passing of the calendar year becomes more meaningful. Here are 4 keys to help you enjoy a fresh start in 2008:
1. Tell someone about your goal. When you make a decision to change, no matter how big or small, share it with someone you care about. Ask that person to keep you accountable. Give him or her permission to check on your progress on a regular basis.
2. Start with small steps. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot by making your goal too astronomical. Running a marathon isn’t a realistic goal for most people, but maybe running 5 miles would be a workable goal. Break down your big dreams into small doable steps. Instead of being overwhelmed by the mountain of work ahead, take a few paces in the right direction each day.
3. Track your progress. Let’s say your New Year’s resolution is to be more hospitable, so you make the commitment to host 12 dinners over the course of the year. Make a list of the people you would like to invite to your home. When those people come over, check their names off the list. Keep your New Year’s resolution and/or list in a place where you will see it often (or else you will forget about it).
4. Celebrate your victories. As you track your progress, you will see tremendous growth! Maybe you’re learning how to play the piano. When you can play a particular piece, celebrate by getting a CD by your favorite artist. Take time to enjoy and savor your successes.
Your calendar is clean with no mistakes in it. Be the one who makes New Year’s resolutions and keeps them. No more false starts for you, only incremental change that lasts!
Today’s Action Step: What is your New Year’s resolution? Which of these 4 keys will you practice to ensure your success?

Don't Let Stress Affect Your Weight: 7 Easy Tips
By: Marjorie Nolan, Ms, Rd, Cpt | 26/07/2006 | Weight Loss
Stress brought on by dieting is added to the personal and work life stresses that we face every day, often resulting in a "vicious cycle" of increased stress and increased food intake. People under stress tend to engage in self-defeating and unhealthy behaviors such as binge eating and there is strong biologic evidence that stressed-out people may tend to put on the pounds faster. "I'm stressed, therefore I eat."

How to Create and Assess Your Food Journal in Six Steps
By: Justine Reidmen | 21/05/2008 | Wellness
Before we get in to too much discussion about how to create, keep, update, and assess a food journal, you need to know what you are getting yourself into. Chances are that you kept a diary when you were younger. Think of a food journal as a type of diary dedicated to food instead of what you think and feel about what you did on any particular day. Unlike the diaries when you were a kid, a food journal does not have to be flashy or beautiful; it just has to be functional.

Soccer team needs your help! Keep them on the fields and off the streets.
By: FSFC 93 Soccer mom | 07-07-2008
How do we get a corporation to sponsor us? We are going to be a U-16 boys team this year. We have been playing as a traveling team since we werre 10 years old together. The majority of the team is less forunate. Most of them live at home with their sibblings and mother and have to work to help out the family. This team and playing soccer traveling is the only positive structured fun that these kids will get to have. We have struggled for years and accomplished a lot and won many tournaments including the state tournament where we went on to represent the state of Arkansas in the regional league. We were unable to finish the season because of lack of money. Tournaments are expensive, and driving to them and eating while there and hotel expenses take a toll on the few parents that have been helping over the last several years. It is frustrating going and playing against teams with nice uniforms with sponsors all over them. (Walmart, dial, crayola, nike, addidas, Alltel, gatorade. peps etc...) It is frustrating because our kids are just as good if not better but we are not in a town that supports soccer as much as other sports. We just need someones help to get us through the next 3 years of traveling playing soccer. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.Thank You
