2000's New Work Force - I am woman, see me roar again!

As we continue through 2009, facing financial unknowns we see a new work force emerging out of the ashes of financial ruin.

Through 2008 and 2009 men have been the hardest hit in the fallout of America's financial crisis as over 75% of United States job losses affected men!

Because of financial necessity we are now seeing an emerging work force comprised of mostly one time stay at home moms! But in truth we have seen this before in history!

During World War II, we had about 36 percent of women return to the work force.

During the recession of the 80's we saw about 48 percent of women return to the work force.

During the downturn of the 90's we saw about 54 percent of women return to the work force.

This does create some problems for the stay at home mom such as self confidence and gaps in employment can and will create concerns for that potential employer and it's up to you to remove any and all concerns.

Now, I know this transition will be tuff and will take some time for you to adjust too especially considering that you where a stay at home mom or should it?

Consider the skills of a stay at home mom:

You developed patience and tolerance You exercised negotiating skills on a daily basis You exercised sound judgment calls daily You set goals on a daily basis You developed and executed strategies daily to achieve them. You established and managed household financial budgets

Can you not see how powerful you are? How organized you are? Can you be a CEO?

Most CEO positions require the following:

Strong leadership skills = patience, tolerance, negotiating skills, sound judgment, goal setting, developed and execute strategies daily and achieve them.

Access to E-mail and a computer = if you are reading this we have this covered

Excellent communication skills = patience, tolerance, negotiating skills, sound judgment, goal setting, developed and execute strategies daily and achieve them.

Successful start-up experience = patience, tolerance, negotiating skills, sound judgment, goal setting, developed and execute strategies daily and achieve them.

Strong project-management skills = patience, tolerance, negotiating skills, sound judgment, goal setting, developed and execute strategies daily and achieve them.

Sales-and-marketing management experience = patience, tolerance, negotiating skills, sound judgment, goal setting, developed and execute strategies daily and achieve them.

Fiscal control = established and managed household financial budgets

Can you see that your job as a stay at home mom is not much different than the job of a CEO?

Now before you jump into the work force you and your spouse or life time mate need to consider two things!

#1 - Who is going to take care of the kids? This is a big one Mom! Do you want another person teaching your child and watching your child grow up?

#2 - Can you afford to work out of the home? A lot to consider on this on such as day care cost, taxes, traveling cost, clothing, eating and other work related cost!

The average cost of day care is $8,150 per year ($679 a month) The average cost to travel to and from work is 45.3 cents per mile The average cost of work clothing and maintained cost is $55.59 per month The average cost of lunch is $47.66 per week The average tax rate is14.50% The average salary in private industry is $45,000

So how much money do you need to make?

Using all the averages above after expenses, your net pay per hour is $10.14 (This includes you travel time to and from work)

You do have 100's of alternative sources of income to help support you and your family and they can be found in the world of the freelancer or WAM (Work at Home) opportunities. You should exercise caution when seeking this time of work on the internet because the scams abound, but with a little research you can find that freelance or work at home job.

Now let's take a look at the stay at home freelance journalist, my reason for this is that 70% plus are female! 65% are married and 58% have at least one child! The average stay at home freelance journalist earns an annual gross income between $40,000 and $49,999.

Now what we will do is take the low ball of $40,000 and rerun the numbers as a stay at home freelance journalist brings your net pay to $16.44 per hour.

Can you see that Mom? You can make more money by just staying at home as a freelance worker. You can still take care of your kids, home, spouse and or soul mate by entering into the world of freelance.
