Roofing contractors will alert you as to the shingle that has a warranty regarding wind and those that do not. There are some excellent quality shingles that will guarantee up to a 110 mile wind. Of course, there are times you don’t need that, but if you live in that type of climate, it will definitely save on roof repairs and cut roof replacement cost if needed.
It’s also good to know that laminated shingles have what the industry calls, “keyways.” Keyways are areas that the wind can sneak into and end up doing damage by pulling the shingles away from the roof and have it in need of roof repairs. And remember that the weight of a shingle means a lot when you want the structure to be protected against wind.
