There are times when you should not look to celebrities as role models. But when it comes to birthday parties, the glitterati know how to celebrate. While the stars' names and the budgets may be bigger, you can look at celebrities' parties to help come up with memorable birthday party ideas of your own.
Theme Birthdays
Naomi Campbell is known for her birthday bashes. One year, she spent almost 2 million dollars flying friends to Dubai and treating them to a three-day celebration. Each day was a different theme: the “all white” theme, the “hip hop” theme and the “Brazilian samba” theme. In a subsequent year, fashion designers Dolce and Gabanna threw Campbell a “La Dolce Vita” themed birthday party. While these parties were spectacles, you may consider using a “theme” approach to your birthday party. Use a favorite color, favorite style of music or favorite film as a starting point for the food and festivities.
Birthdays On Vacation
An intimate vacation getaway is also a wonderful way to spend a birthday. Take Mariah Carey, for example. For her 40th birthday, husband Nick Cannon treated her to a Barbados getaway, complete with an elegant champagne-enhanced dinner and her favorite cake flown in from New York for the occasion. A relaxing vacation with a small group can be an ideal way to celebrate a birthday. It can calm and invigorate you in preparation for another great year. But you don't have to go to a Caribbean island to achieve this tranquility. Sometimes just a night or two away from your daily routine can be just the type of party you need.
Birthdays On the Town
One of the easiest ways to celebrate a birthday is by enjoying a night on the town. The drinks, food and entertainment can all be taken care of by your favorite restaurant or nightclub. Ashton Kutcher has been known to enjoy relatively low-key birthdays with family and friends. He rang in his 30th year with a small group of celebrities including Kate Hudson and Selma Hayek at a private dinner in New York City. The meal was followed by a visit to a celebrity-friendly Cuban nightclub.
While the celebrity lifestyle may seem unattainable, the birthday fun is not. By focusing on your ideal size, theme and tone of your gathering, both you and your loved ones will have an unforgettable time celebrating your birthday with you.
