Diaper Cakes: Cute and Functional For a New Baby

Welcoming a new baby into your life will probably feel like one of the most important things you will ever do. Then same feeling also applies when you have friends who are to welcome a new baby home. You want to congratulate the family and celebrate with them, but you do not know what to give. In both cases, diaper cakes would be excellent choices.

What is it, you ask? Essentially, it is a bunch of baby diapers bunched together to form something that looks like a cake. Needless to say, even if it is a cake, you cannot eat it. It is not just that however; there is an art to it. You cannot just throw a bunch of diapers together, wrap them up and call it a diaper cake. There is an art to it, just like with everything else. The best of these would even fool the casual observer into thinking it was a real cake! These faux-cakes are often made with several concentric layers, each smaller than the one below it, like other celebratory cakes. They are trimmed with ribbons, bows, even small stuffed toys for that made-for-baby feel to it. Sometimes other baby-related items are used to make the "cake" more interesting, or added just to increase the utility value. For example, one such cake could use baby bottles as pillar supports for tall cakes.

When giving gifts to a family to welcome their baby (i.e. at a baby shower), it often comes down to a question of form and function. We worry about giving gifts that are too much fluff and not enough stuff. A couple, especially if it is their first baby, will most likely be ill-equipped to care for a baby. This is a clue to what you should get for them for the occasion of their new bouncing bundle of joy. You and they will want something that could help with getting the baby settled in, something to kick off the baby-rearing thing. Baby items like cribs and strollers are good, but they might be a mite expensive. Small items and consumables like infant formula, diapers, baby bottles, and pacifiers would be great. Those would be even better if you could present them with flair and style. A baby diaper cake does just that: it presents items that the new baby would need, and does it in a way that does not sacrifice cuteness and taste.

Why choose these novel constructs over other more traditional baby gift items? Furniture and large items like cribs and baby strollers can be expensive, plus the parents might want to choose for themselves. Baby clothes can be iffy, since you will need just the right size. Consumables are a good choice because they are sure to be useful, and are generally acceptable. A diaper cake has things that the new baby will definitely need and presents them tastefully -- it is cute and functional! With My Diaper Cakes, choosing and buying a gift for welcoming a new baby has never been a better fusion of looks and usefulness!
