Horray the sun is shining and everyone is talking about when the clocks go forward and we can all enjoy the long summer evenings sat in the garden with a lovely glass of wine! If like me your thinking of these times you may also be thinking about what you can do to make this a summer to remember. If you have children you may well be dusting down the paddling pool, cleaning up the sand pit and generally preparing all the garden toys.
If your children got fed up last year with their toys you might be thinking of investing in some new garden toys. This is where I can help. I have been doing some research on garden games and there are plenty of outdoor games to buy and some of them include the giant range. What I mean by giant is that you can now buy a number of games which are in giant proportions. Like Connect 4. Do you remember playing that as a child? I certainly do and I remember playing with it for hours with my friends. Maybe your children are a bit more sophisticated and play games like chess? Well did you know you can now get hold of chess in the giant form? They come made from plastic and to ensure they don’t blow away you need to fill them with water or sand.
Another great game which all the family can enjoy is limbo. Limbo is the game where you have a bar on two posts and the object is to lean back without bending your knees and limbo under the bar. The bar then gets moved down so that the limbo-ing gets harder. It is a hilarious game to watch and great fun for adults as well as children. You can also make this game yourself with a couple of poles or broom sticks which is what my friends and I used to do.
Other fun games include ‘towers’ or better known as ‘jenga’. In the giant form this game is great for those who struggle with the little game. With large blocks they are easier to push, but beware, when they tumble you will know about it! Make sure you stand out the way when the tower tumbles or you could get buried in wooden blocks. They are not that heavy so wont cause any damage, but even so you will get a bit of a shock if a number of them fall on your toes!
If like me you’re planning to have a few garden parties then these giant garden games will be a huge hit. They will keep the kids entertained while you entertain the grown ups. Then after a couple of glasses of wine or beer you can be sure your grown up guests will be keen to join in. You will all be in fits of giggles and the kids will think it’s great.
So get planning now, have a look online and see what garden games are available, you might be surprised at how reasonably priced they are. You can’t been giant games for entertainment at garden parties, so make sure you buy them now before there is a sale shortage.
