Justin Kimbinck is a new father and very concerned about his new baby’s health and safety. Years ago kitchen water filters were used when an individual needed to clear the water of dirt and sediments. The sand filters used by our city’s water companies cannot effectively remove all traces of modern chemicals such as pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, herbicides, pesticides, and more. Chlorine is used to kill off lingering microorganisms. While this method works to a certain degree, there are some parasites that are chlorine resistant, and by the way, chlorine itself is a health hazard.
The point is that the water coming from our kitchen faucets may look safer than it actually is. The good news is that there are various filters available that can enhance the safety and health qualities, as well as the taste of the water we drink. Water from these filters can actually improve the taste of your coffee or tea or any other items in which water is used as an ingredient.
Whether you choose a filter that sits on top of the sink/counter area, or you use one that is attached underneath, the results will be the same, your water will be fresher and freer of unwanted toxins. These systems will in essence, add another tap from which you will retrieve filtered water. This water will be free from toxins and will have an improved and freshened taste. Perhaps just as important – the filters are constructed in such a way as to allow any healthful minerals to pass through. Obviously, these filters should be a mainstay in every home to help insure safe and healthy water.
