Solar panels are a great alternative to produce energy cheap as the cost of electricity is increasing day by day. The energy sources are also getting extinct soon and thus adding up to their cost. So, it is the need of the time now to literate people on the renewable energy sources. With the help of the solar energy, you can save some good amount of money on the electricity bills.
How can I build a solar panel myself?
If that is the question you have in mind, this article will explain you how to construct a solar panel yourself. Building a solar panel is not a hard task. Simple materials like solar cells, an electric stove, copper wires, plastic vessel, a multi-meter and also a copper sheet are enough to build a solar panel with little working.
Choose the best place around your home where direct sunlight hits maximum time. It is essential for the solar cells to receive at 6hours of direct light on them.
Arrange the solar cells horizontally and connect each other with copper wires. Now, cut the copper sheet to the size of the electric stove. Clean the sheet with sandpaper to remove the traces of sulphide if any. Place the sheet on the electric stove and switch it ON to the maximum. The copper sheet gradually changes the color and turns to thick black coat. Now, cool the copper sheet steadily. A layer of red cuprous oxide can be observed on the sheet. With the help of alligator clips, join this layer with the copper sheet. Arrange this sheet into a plastic container which has a wide mouth. Even glass containers can also be used. Fill the container till the clips with salt water. Be sure that negative terminal is connected to the red cuprous sheet. By connecting this to a battery, the energy can be stored and can be used whenever required.
