Planning a Graduation Party – A 6 Step Process

Step 1 - Before you can even think of getting started, remember you need to pick a date for your graduation party. Make sure you buy all the decorations like the centerpieces and the balloons and streamers beforehand so that you won’t have to rush to the stores at the very last minute.

Step 3 – Decorations for the party. You can add flair to all your tables by decorating them with beautiful centerpieces and other forms of decoration. Make your own centerpieces by using candles, pictures and mementos, balloons, and flowers. Or, you can opt for graduation themed table centerpieces. For your graduation party, whether you are having simple appetizers, a sit-down dinner, or even a buffet, some sort of decorative tableware is essential. You’ll require plates and spoons, utensils, cups, and napkins. You can either opt for plain tableware or anything in your high schools colors, and even printed napkins.

Another unique way of decorating your graduation party is to hang college jerseys, sweat shirts, pennants, and anything to do with your high school or college. Using these, as decorations will give your party decorations an interesting twist. Decorate the walls with crepe paper in the colors of your high school or college, or you can even go for your own color theme.

Step 4 – Ordering the graduation announcements for family members and close friends. There really isn’t anything wrong with sending out announcements to colleagues, distant relatives and not-so-good friends, but you must always make sure that you include a ‘No gifts please’ notation. This is the same in the case of graduation invitations. However, most schools and colleges impose a certain limit on the number of spectators who are attending the ceremony. So, it is very important to think carefully before sending out the invitations. Thus, it is always better to invite your close friends and family. Step 5 – You need to determine the dress code of everyone attending the graduation party. If you’re throwing an unusual theme part, then make sure you state the dress code. If it is a formal function like a dinner party wherein your entire college faculty will be attending, then you must also dress in the proper attire. Always carry a dinner jacket. Young ladies should always wear evening gowns. Accessories should be simple and elegant, while makeup should be moderate.

Step 6 – Directions to the party. If you are not having the party at your house or someplace where everybody is familiar with then you need to provide very good written directions, a map and your phone number to ensure that no one gets lost.
