Keeping a home for getting cluttered is a never ending struggle. Most of us would prefer to toss our coats on the couch than to put them in the closet. Most of us would rather leave books and magazine lying around instead of putting them back on a shelf each time we've finished with them for the time being. People are often a little lazy. It it were fun to pick up after ourselves, we'd be doing it. It's not fun, so the clutter piles up.
I'm not saying that people who let a few sweaters pile up on a chair are dirty. Not at all. There's a difference between being disorganized and having a little clutter around and being dirty. Your stuff may all be scrubbed until it's gleaming, it's just not all put up where it belongs.
One big secret about living in a cluttered home is that people will judge you for it. Visitors are likely to think that you are dirty if they see clutter in your home. I'm not suggesting you should organize your entire home because of what some random strangers might think. Of course, visitors to your home are generally not random strangers. They are usually people you know and care about. They are people whose opinions you may want to take notice of. You may not want them thinking there's a problem with your home organization skills.
Another secret about clutter is that it usually less time consuming to organize it all than it is to just leave it. You may be thinking that it would take hours for you to declutter your home. You'd probably be right, but you'll spend a lot more time looking for things you've lost in the clutter if you just leave it alone. People can spend hours looking for a single object that has disappeared their cluttered homes. If three or four things get lost in the clutter, you could be days looking for them. You could have organized everything in that amount of time.
The thing about decluttering your home is that it really doesn't take all that long to do and the rewards are endless. You don't have to look for lost items any more because you know exactly where they are. You don't have to worry about what friend will think of your cluttered home. If it's all organized, then they can't help by be impressed.
