For couples that cannot for some reason or another have children of their own an adoption may be the last resort. If you are yearning for a baby of your own to hold in your arms and want a birth mother to understand just how much this means to you, then make sure you make every effort to let her know what a precious gift this would be. Several websites offer this service and an open adoption is a way to get to know the birth mother and for her to get to know the people who will be raising her child. If this is done with thought and feeling, it can be a successful transition for everyone involved.
Make sure that when you choose your profile picture for the mother-to-be that you use the very best pictures you have that show you and your husband as you are today. If you do not like any of the ones you currently have, take some more. Make sure they are focused correctly so that you do not appear too far away or fuzzy. Wear nice clothes. You don’t have to look like you are going to a party but wear clothes that say you can afford to dress tastefully. After all, if you can’t afford to dress nicely, how are you going to raise a child? Smile with your eyes as well as your mouth. People who are genuinely happy smile with more than their mouth. Have you ever noticed that some people light up when they smile?
When you write your letter to the birth mother share with her how you and your husband met and how long you have known each other. Talk about your hopes and dreams for a child. Talk about your extended family. Most birth mothers would like their child to have grandparents and aunts and uncles. Pictures of your home will be interesting to her so she will know what kind of home the baby will be raised in. Tell her about your careers or if you want to be a stay at home mom let her know that. If you already have a child or are going to try to adopt more than one this may be important information. Then she will know if her child will have a brother or sister to grow up with.
Let her know what your religious beliefs are and if you attend church. This may be a really important part of her choice. Basically, what you want to do is make the best first impression that you can make. This is what will be first considered and will be the deciding factor on whether the birth mother will want to know anything else about you. So put your best foot forward and try to convey what this wonderfully precious gift would mean to you and your spouse.
