I have racked my brains out as to what I believe to be the best mother's day gift I could give to my dear old mum aged eighty one who as we speak has been lain up with her leg plastered from her ankle to thigh caused by a fall over seven weeks ago getting off a bus. You could set your clock by my dear old mum who "every" morning with out fail caught the 9.30 bus into town with only her walking stick for company. How she loved visiting the charity shops where she would bury her head up to her neck in boxes of bric a brac in search of a bargain.

Her collection of ornaments and furniture of tacky appearance made her happy; as long as mom was happy we made an effort to jolly in her happiness. However there were the times when we kids could not help ourselves from sniggering at what we saw as junk that she brought home while wearing a grin like a Cheshire cat that was until she got loose with a tin of varnish, glue needle and cotton should her buy be that of curtains. The smile was soon wiped of our face when the finished product was presented after refurbishment. Yes my mom was gifted all right no doubt about that

Mom's house was like a palace even though filled with second hand goods. Palaces are for queens and in our eyes mom you foot the bill. I insist on a crowning glory for this inspiring and amazing mum in a million who made our house into a home.

Seven weeks in captivity as she sees it has left mom feeling really down because of the house bound restrictions. She is more depressed looking at four walls than that of the pain from her broken bones. At this present moment in time the best ever mother's day present would be for her to traipse the streets once again.

Dad died at a young age leaving mum to bring up eight of us, four boys four girls. I now look back and see the reason and importance of how charity shops became a way off life for her so she could put food in our mouths. This is a mum in a million and so deserving of the best mother's day gift out there, but what? When you have a mother that is your friend and companion gift hunting gets a lot easier, however in saying that if you have a mother like mine who always put her kids first, worked her fingers to the bone to put a crust on the table, gave a shoulder to cry on and stood up to the street bully for making your life a misery is not the kind of woman who believes she should be on the receiving end of a goodwill gesture. It is because of this - tells me the mothers day present I choose can not be the "best" mothers day gift but a "special" mothers day gift" As soon as her plaster is removed I will give her back her freedom and let her loose as she pleases. But before she sets off for the 9 30 bus, this mum in a million will be plastered once again with millions of special sloppy kisses from me.

1 You only have one mum so make sure at every possible moment that you let her know that she is very special to you.

2 Tell her how much she is loved; express your love with warm heartfelt hugs and kisses.

3 Have mom round for dinner, if she is independent and set in her ways then it make take some persuasion. If she stands her ground then cook a meal for her and bring it round to her own territory where she is at her most comfortable.

4 Make your visits daily she will be glad of the company. If circumstance stands in your way then set special dates in your diary to go shopping with her, or accompany her to the hair salon, or be with her at her next eyesight test examination.

5 If mum has a garden and it is growing over lend a hand or green fingers

6 Give mom a call to see if she needs anything like groceries or electricity/gas top up card. This gives you more quality time to spend with mum than having to nip out on your arrival.

Quality time is of utmost importance between you and your mum because at her time of life there is not much road left ahead. Let mom treasure and pleasure in your company so her golden years will be remembered with the fondest of memories.

Quality time has to be the most special best ever mothers day gift of all.

For those reading this whose mother has passed on then a church service mass would be nice. You could even consider adopting a mother less fortunate than your self who has many mouths to feed in a worn torn country or one stricken with famine.

Is it something to worry about?
By: coriandermay | 09-07-2008
me and my boyfriend just got back together a couple weeks ago and like the 4th of july he couldn't find his phone for like a day or 2 so wasn't able to talk on the phone with him like usual and he hadn't come online either so it has been weird not being able to talk to him and we were supposed to hang out if he wasn't to late getting home from work but he didn't even call to let me know if he could or not so I am not even sure when he got home and like I said he hasn't been online the past few days........ I tried to call a few times to see if I could get a hold of him to see how long he was working and the first time it just rang and when I tried again later his phone was off or the battery died. with all that went on when we were broken up I kinda worry cause I don't want it to happen again ya know(if u have read my previous posts about that u know what happened)...... if not he broke up with me for some stupid reason them a couple days later went out with this other girl and had sex with her and all that crap it was all messed up and she stopped the relationship so they r not even talkn right now or anything so he got over her and eventually asked me back out and told me he knew I was the one for him so............  is it alright to worry or should I not even think about it? I am not really sure what to think really cause I don't know if he just went to sleep when he got home whenever that was and just turned his phone off and forgot to call or what?! I don't want to go crazy or anything over it I just want to make sure if It is something I should keep an eye on to make sure nothing is going on or just not do anything about it.

Secret Lover/Friend
By: MiamiTemp | 08-07-2008
I'm a 25 y/o female from Miami. I've been involved with a man romantically for a year and a half but nobody knows about our relationship. I can't go into detail about why we have to keep this a secret. He's not married or anything but if people found out then it could hurt his career, etc. I had known for a few years before we started anything sexual but had fallen for him way before that. When the opportunity presented itself I took it and things have been very hot with him since then. However, he has no idea how much I care about him. We were always friends, so I know he gets that much but I'm scared that if he found out that I was in love with him our relationship would change. It kills me not to be able to tell this guy that he's everything to me. I've had my share of relationships, whether it has been boyfriends, friends with benefits or whatever but this is completely throwing me off track in my life. I know he recently started seeing another woman, but the terms of our current relationship are strictly "friends with benefits" so I can't really say anything. The other woman has no idea that me and him have the type of sexual relationship that we do. She thinks we are just friends. I love having this secret, but at times it gets difficult. I get sad at times when I think that he is waking up next to her and not me. He'll swing by my house, we'll hook up and then he'll go over to her house for a movie. It sucks and I'm not quite sure how to handle it. I don't want it to end, I want him to know how I feel but I can't bring myself to tell him. Anyone got any words of wisdom?
