Operating a business can be stressful. It can consume your every thought and minute. It’s important to remember to take of yourself as you are building your business so that you’ll be able to enjoy your successes. Here are few tactics to make sure you keep yourself first as you build your business.
? Remember to eat. You have to give your nourishment to pull those long hours and to constantly think up new marketing strategies. But, don’t just eat. Eat a healthy diet being sure to include all the food groups and remembering breakfast. Schedule your meals if you have to.
? Take time for yourself. Schedule 15 -30 minutes of alone time each day to relax and distress.
? Exercise. There’s the freshman 20 and there’s the operating business 50. Need I say more? 30 minutes of aerobics everyday is key to strong body and mind. Sitting at your desk most of the day can cause sagging so don’t forget those exercises that tone the muscles.
? Get enough sleep each night. Don’t use this time to catch up on household chores they’ll be there tomorrow. A good night sleep will keep you energized.
? Get out of the house/office. Go visit a girlfriend. Go shopping. You still need a social life to mind full of innovative ideas. Networking is not socializing. Go have some fun.
? Don’t let guilt rule your day. It’s really okay if the kids watch a video or eat PB & J for lunch because you were meeting with a client. It’s also okay to have your husband cook dinner and kids a bath while you put the finishing touches on your website.
? Do something that doesn’t require thinking. Read a book just for fun. Watch some TV. Listen to some music. Take a walk.
? Pamper your body. Go to the spa, get a message, manicure, new hair style. Looking good helps you feel more confident even if you are just going to come home and put on your favorite sweats as you sit in front of the computer to read email and network.
? Remember to keep the romance alive. Schedule a weekly date with your mate. Turn off the computer, get a sitter for the kids and go out and have some fun. Don’t put your love life on the back burner as you build your business.
Remembering to take care of yourself as you build your business will improve not only your mood and overall wellness but, will ensure that you have the energy and strength to enjoy the lifestyle your business will create.
