As with any new business venture, or job really, people make mistakes. It would be great if we could avoid making them completely. One of the most frequent problems affiliates have, which is not a mistake per se, but it is something to be avoided, is the thought that affiliate marketing means overnight riches. Unfortunately, this belief is nurtured by the many glowing reports used to sell affiliate marketing training programs. While a few highly successful people have made a lot of money virtually over night, most people take a little while to start generating a good, stable, and full time income from affiliate marketing. The most common mistake new affiliate marketers make is getting started without understanding that there is marketing involved and how extensive this marketing can be for some of the most popular products out there. Probably the easiest and fastest way to market your affiliate products to use PPC (pay-per-click) advertising that is available by almost all search engines. This will start getting you sales and mailing list subscribers almost immediately because of the virtually instant visibility on the search engines. However, this can be expensive. If you do your keyword research carefully, you can still make a huge profit while minimizing your PPC costs. Another huge mistake is promoting a ton of products at once. It is better to do a quality marketing job on a few select products that offer a big commission than it is to do a half baked job on a ton of products. There are a lot of top quality products for affiliate marketers to promote. It is important to find products that are popular and yet not completely saturated into the market. Avoiding the mistakes most affiliate markets make is a good way to start your marketing campaign off on the right foot!
