Building Your Network Marketing Business - Don't Put the Cart Before the Horse

You have a big dream of building your network marketing business.  Great.  But are you guilty of putting the cart before the horse? When you start in network marketing, you have chosen to agree to some company's contract. A lot of people don't realize that, but it is true 100% of the time.

You probably don't remember, but you checked a box saying you read and agree to the Policies & Procedures. That is required before you can begin marketing any MLM product. So the question is ... did you actually read the Policies and Procedures? (Most people don't.) The P&P is the legal contract between you and the network marketing company. Do you have any real idea what you have agreed to? You might be surprised. Heck, you might be absolutely shocked!

It's fairly standard for a company to insert one or more clauses making it clear that you - the rep - may be terminated at any time for any reason with 30 days' notice or no notice! You'll find companies use this wording on a regular basis. They wait until you have built an income, and then they terminate you. Guess where the income you built then goes?

Keep in mind, this contract was written by company lawyers. Chances are, the company won't terminate you to steal your check unless they get themselves in financial dire straits.  But you can bet it happens. If you want a solid foundation for yourself and your family and your team, then you definitely want a contract that can't kick the legs out from under you.

It's important to really target the exact people who will build your network marketing business. Obviously there are lots of possibilities. Pro mailers have learned the best ways to target the best prospects to mail to. And it's pretty expensive when you make a mistake of mailing to a poorly-targeted list. These guys would tell you that the number one factor in their success isn't the mailing piece they send out - it is the names on the list they mail to.

You'll probably think this is weird, but the top criteria to be able to predict whether a person will buy is, has this person bought the same thing before? I know that seems very counterintuitive, but it is the truth. Mail order pros only send their mailings to prospects who have already bought the exact same thing, or something very similar. Why would that work? Because you are dealing with someone who has raised their hand and identified themself as a person interested in exactly what you are selling. That means your very best prospects are NOT the general public.

When you google "MLM", you'll quickly realize how many websites and web businesses focus on selling leads to MLMers. It's a Huge business. The problem is, buying leads from any lead vendor is always a crapshoot. If you don't really know the vendor, then you have a good chance of getting worthless, useless leads. The only sane solution is to somehow harvest your own targeted MLM leads if you possibly can.
