What would you suppose is the most critical element of your computer based home business? It's not your products, your website, your upline, or anything of the kind. It's your Contract. Your success hinges on what is written in your Policies and Procedures.
When you begin to build an MLM business, you have chosen to agree to some company's contract. A lot of people don't realize that, but it is true 100% of the time. You probably don't remember, but you checked a box saying you read and agree to the Policies & Procedures. That step must be done in order to begin marketing any MLM product. So what I would ask you is ... did you actually read the Policies and Procedures? (Most people don't.) That is the legally enforceable agreement between you and the network marketing company.
Do you have a clue what you have agreed to? It might take you by surprise. Heck, you might be absolutely shocked. There's a good chance you'll find statements making it clear that you - the rep - may be terminated at any time for any reason with 30 days' notice. You'll find companies use this wording on a regular basis. They let it pass until you have good money coming in, and then they terminate you. Who do you think gets your stream of income? Remember, this contract was written by company lawyers.
Your company probably will not terminate you to steal your check unless they get themselves in financial trouble. But it happens more times than you think. If you want a solid foundation for yourself and your family and your team, then you definitely want a contract that can't knock the wind out of your sails.
You'd never, ever take any work and not know what you'll make per hour or per week or per month. What you're paid is your number one or number two question, which makes it pretty unusual how people get into network marketing without knowing the answer to that question. They know how much they WANT, but they usually have no idea what kind of production it will take to produce the income they want.
It's not that hard to figure out, so there's no reason not to do it. For any income goal - let's say it's $10k - you will need a certain sales volume in your business. Find out what that is. Let's call that X. Next, you need to find out what the average volume per current distributor is. Some people order irregularly, some people don't order. What is the actual average monthly volume per distributor? Let's call that Y. Just divide X by Y know how many people you need in your business to make the income you want.
If you need 400 reps to achieve $10,000 a month, you can plan how to do that. If it takes 3,000 distributors to make $10,000 a month, then you'll need a different plan. But you can't plan unless you know how many reps you will need.
A lot of people in MLM get mesmerized by the few who make the really big money. You'll find a very few big dogs who get 6 figure or even 7 figure incomes a month. The ebook "Success In 10 Steps" by Michael Dlouhy describes how those guys really look at you! It's pretty interesting.

Real estate investors say you make your money when you buy the property, by buying it right. Same is true in an MLM business.
