The problem with most people these days, 99% of them to be exact is that they just can't say no! 

They think they can , but the truth is they can't even say no to their in laws on christmas eve when they've just finished a 14 hour conference and can't think of anything better than a cosy bed and a nice plate of vegetables and fish! 

Of course i'll come over is the automatic programmed response! "Immediately, yes of course!" "Yes we'll make sure we bring our brothers and sisters, all of the children!"

Note the so called kids are 15 and obsessing about their latest pots and pans down the stairs song which is blaring from YOUR garage-even though you don't have kids! Just because you couldn't say no.............

So you go over to the dreaded in laws and sit down on the dodgy chair that no one else would sit on.. Because you couldn't say no. Eat 3 home made giant cookies made from millet flour and cocoa and apples, because you couldn't say no. Have 3 glasses of home made orange juice, made especially for you... because you couldn't say no!-and to top it all off you get driven home by your son in law, whilst your godchildren moan non stop the whole way! 

-Because you couldn't say no and are far too tired and overfed to drive by now!

You finally get to bed but by this time are so tired that your wife has to prepare your godchildrens stockings who are staying with you on christmas eve-because you guessed it you couldn't say no, and your wife has to wake you up four or five times to find out where all of the presents are and you don't get to sleep till four in the morning! All because of you not being able to say you know what!

Where am I going with all this you might ask yourself. Why are you telling me what I already know? Why are you torturing me instead of helping me?

Well the reason why I am torturing you, teasing you, prodding you and provoking you by reminding you of this painfully familiar scenario is because you can only fix a problem if you have already admitted the fact that you have one. Now read that again because it's very important that you understand it before you go on.

How on earth can you paint a room in the dark? How can you sew without a needle?

How can you spot the live wire if they're all painted blue?

We'll the answer is you can't, you can't possibly identify an unidentified object, and anything you haven't admitted to is by all means unidentified!

Why do you think so many young men and women walk around saying things like. I'm not really in a relationship, we're just friends, or I really like you but...! .........Because they don't know how to say no!

They don't realize that if they were to drop out of their mind numbing, energy draining denial things would actually be quite simple.

All it takes is a few brutal truths. I.E Something along the lines of "I don't love you." "I don't want to feel close to you or anyone for that matter because I've been hurt and can we just have sex!

OK well I'd forgive you for saying that's a little extreme and quite possibly rude-but that depends on who your talking to!

Really do we have to be so dishonest with ourselves and others?

Perhaps it would be easier if we automatically said no to all the ideas that we don't agree with and yes to the ones that we do agree with.

I mean do you really think that your father in law is going to die a early death and disown you if you don't eat that cake steak pudding-whatever, do you really think in the overall scheme of things that it's that important to your relationship with your spouse or him?

Of course it isn't! If he thought for one second that you really didn't want that cake? Or anything else for that matter bar a glass of water?

He wouldn't mind at all! They would stop fussing and pestering you and start on someone else!-But that's another article altogether!

My point is this life is too short to do things that you don't want to do for no reason but to pretend you like something you don't!

Give it up!

Drop the facade, the fake smiles, the fake orgasms.....! lol!

Stop deceiving people that you just want to please that are trying to please you, I mean after all they do actually want you to be happy otherwise they wouldn't be in your life.

Put your foot down, lose the resentment, annoyance and frustration, but above all, be yourself:-) And if you think you're selfish DON'T. All the people I know that think they're selfish are selfless and paranoid about being selfish!
