Your product description is the most important part of the auction process.  So, be as detailed as possible.  Tell your potential buyers everything you know about your product, including where you got it. You also need to be brutally honest.  If a product has a flaw or minor damage, make sure you note it accurately in the description.  Dishonest sellers can be penalized and end up with poor ratings.  Also, include a photo of the product you are selling.  Buyers want to see what you are offering.  Don't edit your photo or use a generic image.  Take a clear photograph on a plain background with good lighting to display to your customers. 

Pricing is another major issue to consider.  You should always research what you are selling and set a fair price.  If you are setting up a sale with a fixed price, choose an average for what you product is worth.  If it's an auction, you should set your starting price slightly below retail value.  Otherwise, it will be hard to attract bidders.  Also, you should always set an accurate shipping rate.  Don't bump up the fee just to make a few extra bucks, it could lose you some credibility with buyers. 

Speaking of shipping, as a seller, you should make delivery prompt.  People like to receive products as quickly as possible. As soon as you receive payment, make sure you send out your product.  Be especially sure to provide fast shipping if your product is time sensitive, like if you have sold concert tickets for an upcoming show. Also, if you advertise special shipping, like overnight or air delivery, make sure to use the method you specified.  A late arrival will lower your feedback rating and cost you future customers.

Always record information about your products, like serial numbers, in case there is any dispute upon delivery.  Also, keep a log of any communication between yourself and the buyer. The last thing you want is a sale going wrong do to a misunderstanding or fraud.  If you do have a problem, make sure you present all your evidence to the auction site in an organized and timely manner. Most sites will work with you and the buyer to resolve a dispute amicably. If you are found to be wrong, ensure a full refund is paid promptly to minimize damage to your reputation.
