MLM Prospecting: Phone Interviewed Leads Against Long Form Leads

I'm often asked whether it is really worth the extra money to purchase Phone Interviewed Leads over traditional Long Form Leads which are often a fraction of the cost. The answer to this question really comes down to ROI ( Return On Investment ).

I separate ROI into 2 different categories. 1) Return on the time invested in contacting the leads. 2) Return on the actual dollar amount you spend. First you must understand how a Phone Interviewed Lead is generated.

Typically the call center will need to make approximately 20-30 phone calls to internet generated Long Form Leads to create one Phone Interviewed Lead. The call center has to sort through bad numbers, wrong numbers, people who won't pick up the phone to strangers, uninterested people, and a number of other variables to get a live person on the phone who is interested in being contacted about a business.

If time is your most valuable asset, paying the extra money for a call center to pre-qualify the leads for you, might be worth its weight in gold in making better use of your time prospecting. Another variable to consider is that this type of lead tends to be a lot less painful of an experience for a new marketer just learning the trade.

However, if your bottom dollar is the determining factor in what kind of lead you want to purchase, a little tracking will need to be done. You might have to call 3 to 4 times as many leads to make the same amount of contacts as if you purchase Phone Interviewed leads, but at the end of the day if you are spending less for the return you receive in commissions, long form leads might be the way to go.

But then again, if you have to purchase substantially more long form leads to receive the same results and thus are spending more money, you might have to rethink how much each lead is really costing you.

My advice is to weigh these ROI factors in determining what the best fit is for you. Also be on the lookout for lead specials with lead providers. There are many companies that sell Phone Interviewed leads for very reasonable prices, even cheaper than some internet generated leads.
