Women all over the globe want to start their own home business for a variety of reasons Some women like the flexibility of having their own schedules; some want to be home with their children; and others want it all. Today, more and more women are becoming creative when it comes to starting and running their own businesses from home. Let's take a look at five of these opportunities, and see if one is right for you.
Personal Assistant: This is such a broad term for this type of business. A personal assistant can do anything from typing letters and transcripts to running and maintaining a website for another business. Being a personal assistant gives you the freedom to define your job when marketing yourself to prospective employers. For instance, if you want to concentrate on taking photos for a realtor and listing the photos on the realtor's website, then you can market yourself that way. A personal assistant really can do whatever she wants and become very good at finding jobs within a niche.
Cleaning Business: Before you go thinking about old maids working in uniforms for low pay, consider the following about owning your own cleaning business. You can market your business to various communities where you know the clientele will appreciate and pay handsomely for your business. Today's cleaning home businesses make anywhere from $20,000 to $100,000 a year, depending on the work put into running the business. You are your own boss and you can collect paychecks weekly or daily. Not bad for a little old maid in a uniform, eh?
Mystery Shopping: True, there are many scams floating around in the mystery shopping world these days, but there are also legitimate and reputable places that are looking for people to shop and fill out reports for them. The pay is generally between $12 and $20 a shop. If you want to work part-time or full-time as a mystery shopper, you can make a decent income. You will be working as an independent contractor, so paying federal and state taxes is your responsibility. It can be a lot of fun to mystery shop.
Ghostwriting: Do you like to write articles, books and eBooks. The opportunity to be a ghostwriter may be your ticket to a home business. If you don't mind writing and turning over the copyright to someone else, then you can make a good source of income with this business. Most article writers make anywhere from $10 to $30 an article. Ghostwriters who write books can make close to $2,000 a book. Of course these figures are variable, depending on with whom you contract work.
Medical Transcriptionist: A medical transcriptionist is someone who types medical records for doctors. The neat thing about being a medical transcriptionist with today's technology is that you can type for physicians all over the world, no matter where you live. You can either be your own boss by owning a medical transcription company, or you can work as an independent contractor for another company who will give you an account to work on for them. Either way, there is a great deal of flexibility in your schedule when you work as a medical transcriptionist or own your own company. You will need medical terminology training before considering work in this health care field.
Scams are abounding today, especially with the popularity of the Internet. You should always check out a business thoroughly before contracting work with them. If you purchase books and eBooks that claim to help you start your own business, make sure you know how to contact the author of the material before making any purchases. These are just common sense tips that will keep you safe when venturing into your own home-based business.
