For example if you earn five dollars a month on a hosting account that you sell, you can plan accordingly to determine how many sales you have to make to hit your residual income monthly goal. Over time you will see what the retention rate is as well and that does come into effect when looking at a good residual income opportunity.
Using the hosting example again not everyone who purchases hosting will continue to keep their account active in the future. Therefore you will have to continue to replace lost sales with new ones with the idea that eventually you will build up a large enough clientele that continues to maintain their hosting account in the future.
These are the primary things that you want to look for in a good residual income opportunity. You certainly want to be paid today, but you also want to be paid in the future and represent products that will continue to be in demand.
