The UK has a long history of producing the best beds in the world and it would seem that clients fly in from around the world to try and buy the very best at affordable prices.
It's not for nothing that Relyon claims to make "the best beds in the world" and Hypnos claims to make "the most comfortable beds in the world".
Relyon Limited started life in 1858 as a wool merchant in the Somerset town of Wellington, England. Originally named by the founding Price family as Price Brothers and Co., the business moved rapidly into manufacturing beds and in 1935 changed its name to Relyon Ltd. Since that time the Relyon brand name has become synonymous with luxury beds of the very highest standards of product design and manufacturing quality and is now recognised as the leading UK manufacturer in its field.
In 1946 when Walter Croll opened his small upholstery and bedding workshop in the Millbrook area of Southampton, majestic ships from such famous lines as Cunard, P & O and Union Castle sailed daily into Southampton Water. The superb interiors of these vessels, which had made Britain's passenger fleet a byword for luxury and elegance, demanded the highest standard of workmanship. The craftsmanship of Walter Croll's workshop soon began to win it a growing number of orders from discerning customers, and when the Union Castle Line awarded Millbrook a contract to refurnish and carpet their entire fleet, the success of the young Company was assured.
Hypnos has been manufacturing luxury handmade beds using traditional methods for over four generations and is renowned around the world as the expert in handcrafted deep pocket sprung beds (known in the USA as box-springs). Proud holders of the Royal Warrant of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II, Hypnos places the elements of quality and comfort above all else.
There has always been a steady stream of discerning clients from France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Singapore, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates that want the very best of what Relyon and Hypnos offer.
But surely the cost of having one of the most comfortable beds in the world shipped from the factory directly to your bedroom anywhere in the world would be prohibitive except for the rich and famous?
Well, you might find a Vi-Spring retail "specialists" in Switzerland for example, but their prices are almost twice those obtainable in the UK and that includes delivery and insurance. For the same price you could have a bed "fit for the Queen" (Hypnos is the only bed manufacturer with a UK Royal Warrant from HM Queen Elizabeth II) from the Very Best Collection.
For example, the Hypnos Royal Comfort Sovereign mattress contains 1,634 pocketed springs. It is 24cm deep with three rows of genuine hand side-stitching, eight horizontal handles and air-vents on all sides, finished with piped ticking. It has fillings of cotton felt, hand-teased white hair, cashmere, silk and lambswool and is covered with finest quality Belgian silver ticking. It is hand-tufted with woollen tufts and comes with its own beautifully skirted Sovereign divan-base.
A good night's sleep doesn't have to cost the earth so no matter where you are in the world you to can sleep like a Queen!
