Deciding which is the perfect fuel to burn your fire and how to store it

When you look for a fire you will have to decide the type of fuel it will use, do you want a gas powered fire, a gas effect fire powered by electricity that has a gas effect or do you want a real fuel fire such as wood or coal. You may even opt for a DVD of a fire to play on your integrated TV.

If it is a real fire that you want you will probably have to get a wood burning or coal burning fire. In order to light the fire you with need a useful device to light the fire. Handy instruments that will be useful are called bellows. A bellows provides air in a pressurized form in the required amounts to the required location.

You will need somewhere to store you coal or wood to be able to burn on your fire. Different kind of coal bunkers include ones that are made from galvanised steel. The galvanised steel types are capable of withstanding all weather conditions and these coal bunkers will last for my many years and they can keep large amounts of coal in a dry environment.

After the initial fuel is burning you should then add more fuel to suit the size of the fire you require.

I would recommend the use of a fire screen or guard at all times with a log fire or fires using a fuel that tends to ‘spit’ .You should always put a fireguard or fire screen in place when leaving the fire unattended (or falling asleep in front of the fire!).

Once you have your fire burning you need to be wary of sparks.  We recommend that you use a fire screen or guard to ensure this doesn’t affect the running of the fire. We would recommend the use of a fire screen or guard at all times with a log fire or fires using a fuel that tends to ‘spit’ .You should always put a fireguard or fire screen in place when leaving the fire unattended (or falling asleep in front of the fire!).

As an alternative to burning coal or smokeless fuel on your fire you could burn fire logs or crackle logs. Fire logs as the name suggests are wood whereas crackle logs are man made and require you to simply light the paper bag in which they come. We offer an extensive range of baskets for storage of your fire logs.

Before you choose your fire you will have to decide on what type of fuel it will use, do you want a safe gas fire, a ‘fake it’ fire with electricity with gas effect or do you want a real fuel fire such as wood or coal.

The place where the fire is inside of the fireplace is called a fire pit or firebox and these can be made to measure. Since the fire emits smoke, it is essential to then have a chimney or other type of opening to let toxic gases escape from the building.
