The bathroom is the littlest room in the house, and it is always more difficult to decorate a small space than a large space, as anything out of place will stick out like a sore thumb. We present here ideas on how to decorate the bathroom.
There are many ways to decorate your home. The most important thing to bear in mind is that your home should reflect your own tastes and interests, and not simply reflect the current fads. Your home decor showcases your personality.
Home decor can follow one of two paths. Either the entire home is designed around one central theme, or each individual room has a separate design.
The design of your bathroom can also be constrained by a variety of factors. If you have an older home, or rent an apartment, the plumbing is already installed and you'll have little to say in the matter unless you want to do a massive remodeling job. If you are having a new house built, you can choose the location of each fixture, from the type and placement of sinks to the type and placement of the bathtub.
The floor
One of the easiest ways to brighten the look of a bathroom is to add a new floor. This can be in the form of linoleum or of tile. Tile comes in various shapes, sizes and colors. Traditionally, large titles are used in big rooms such as the kitchen, whereas small tiles are used in small rooms such as the bathroom. However, use whatever size you like. You just need to be able to cut it properly to fit snugly around the bathroom fixtures.
The walls
As with any other room, the color of the walls is important. It's usually best to choose a light color, such as white, pale grey or cream, in order to set off the furnishings in the room. However, if you feel adventurous, why not try a mural - something with a marine or space theme could be amusing.
The furnishings
A sink all by itself looks kind of naked...and gives you no storage room. So you'll definitely want a vanity to encase that sink. Depending on the size of your bathroom, you can get a large vanity so that you can store all your cleaning materials and toilet rolls within.
There are plenty of decorative faucets available, so replacing your dreary old original faucets with those with a decorative design are an easy way to add beauty and elegance to the room.
If for some reason you can't install items on the walls, there are plenty of free standing towel stands, towel valets and toilet paper pedestals available.
Hampers and storage sets come in a variety of materials, from the traditional bamboo design to plastic to metal.
In all things, you must consider that most accidents occur in the home...and most accidents in the home occur in the bathroom. So make sure you have non-slick mats on the tub surface, and that the tiles on your floor do not become slippery when wet.
