Have you considered a do it yourself solar panels project for your house? Well, if you haven't thought about the benefits of do it yourself solar panels, you may be making a huge mistake. If you live in an area that receive a lot of sunlight then you could be saving major money on your electric bill! Solar powered electricity is limitless and can power your house 100% FREE with enough equipment.
The amount of electricity that a solar panel system can generate depends on the number of solar panels you own, the wattage of the solar cells, number of solar cells built into the panel, and the amount of sunlight that hits the panels. Solar panels can range from 15 watts all the way to several hundred watts. When multiple panels and strung together, you can easily generate enough electricity to run your home for free.
There are some things to consider prior to choosing a method and system to install for your house. For example; does your property receive enough sunlight throughout the day? Solar panels need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight every day to be effective and are typically located on the roof of your house. However, not all home-owners have roofs that slope in an optimal direction. Never fear though, if your roof is not optimized for solar panels, you can build and place the panels on a large billboard, or just lay them around the sunny areas of your property. Many people use these techniques since they do not have a southern-sloped roof.
Having your solar panels facing south is the norm as the southern direction typically receives optimal sunlight. Many companies offer solar evaluations as well. The company will come out and tell you how beneficial solar energy would be for you and your home, no an individual basis.
The primary thing to consider is price; you need to determine how long it will take to recoup the initial investment, especially when considering a professional installation. If you plan on moving out soon, it may not be worthwhile. Then again, having a solar power system can increase the value of your property/house drastically. Who wouldn't want to move into a home that gets their electricity for FREE?
Another question to ask yourself is; "Should I pay for a professional solar panel system or a do it yourself solar panel system?" There are serious expense obligations in one, but the other is obviously far cheaper. Each application is about the same when it comes to electricity output. It all depends on whether or not you have the time for a do it yourself solar panel system or the money for a professional installation. Regardless, you may want to save loads of money by doing the work yourself, professional installations can cost upwards of $70,000 to take your house off-grid.
Lastly, if you decide to build do it yourself solar panels, you should find a local retailer for solar cells, the casing materials, and other equipment you will need. You can always start with the phone book or the internet if you don't know of any place offhand. Most materials you can pick up at a local hardware store. eBay is also a great place to find used, broken(but 100% usable), and affordable, brand new solar cells.
Regardless of which method you choose, professional or do it yourself, there are few things that are more satisfying than capturing and harnessing the power of the sun. You may never have to worry about paying another power bill again, or worry about leaving the TV on at night or a light on for the dog.
In a closing note, I'd like to suggest the do it yourself method to everybody before they decide to go with a professional installation. Saving money is a big deal to many people a do it yourself solar panels project really isn't as difficult as many people would think. All you need is a little soldering practice. However, should you go the route of a professional solar power system, be sure to do some shopping around, for prices can vary.
