Don't Ruin A New Kitchen With The Wrong Canister Set!

Whether you are doing a total kitchen remodel, or just sprucing it up a bit for the holidays, you'll want to pay special attention to the kitchen canisters that you choose for your spiffy new kitchen theme. Choosing a coordinating kitchen canister is easy with so many different designs and themes available. But if you aren't careful, you can blow the whole look by choosing the wrong kitchen accessories. So let's take a look a few of the more popular canister designs to determine which one will work best for your own kitchen.

Ceramic Canisters. Ceramic kitchen canisters are a decorating dream as they offer so much more design flexibility. White used to be the standard in solid color ceramic canisters, but those days have changed. While not as whimsical, solid color canisters in a coordinating color would blend with your kitchen theme. If your kitchen already has emphasizes lots of different patterns and details, you'll find a solid colored canister set will blend without fighting with the other design elements.

But if you kitchen suffers from the plain-vanilla disease, you can always spice it up a bit with one of the fun themed canister set. A set of rooster canisters can be fun choice? Or a village of ceramic house canisters? A word of warning: it is easy to get caught up in a theme and go too far, creating a matchy-matchy look that looks unnatural. So if you chosen design pattern has already been repeated in the wallpaper and other accessories, you will want to stick with a solid color canister that coordinates with the theme without taking it too far.

Glass Canisters. If you are looking for a very traditional canister set to compliment your traditional kitchen décor, a set of glass canisters can do the trick. You can find a variety of styles that replicate the old glass apothecary jars. But the newer styles of glass jar canisters feature airtight lids, which are critical to keeping food fresh and safe from bugs.

If you have a Victorian kitchen, consider fancy glass canisters to compliment your period theme. Of coure, they are also available with clean sharp design lines that work well with an ultra-modern kitchen design. The most important thing is to coordinate your canister design with the overall style and theme of your kitchen decor.

Stainless Steel Canisters. For an ultra-modern kitchen design, it is best to stick with stainless steel canisters. The appearance of cereal and dried beans can be a visual distraction in a modern kitchen, so glass canisters are out unless they are the only focal point in the room.. If you must know what is inside that stainless steel canister, choose a style that comes with a glass lid.

By taking a few minutes to consider the style of your kitchen décor, you can choose a set of kitchen canisters that will enhance, rather than fight, your decorating theme. If you get your new canisters home and find that you've made a poor choice, you can always hide them in the pantry.
