Gas furnace repairs in Virginia Beach do not have to be expensive. Actually, there is a website that you can go to that list a large majority of the parts that can go bad in your heating or cooling system and not only tells you what those parts cost a company but how long the job should take as well! Check it out before calling anyone at http://www.heatcool911.com
If you live in Virginia Beach and you find yourself without heat this winter, you may end up paying way too much for a gas furnace, or any heating system repair for that matter because of the following reasons.
First, there is way too many competing heating and cooling contractors in Virginia Beach and not enough demand so these companies are constantly trying to keep their doors open. They do this by charging as much as possible on each repair because there are only a limited number of repairs going around.
Second, the climate is not extreme in VA. Beach. This also limits the number of service calls available because your gas furnace does not run enough to break down that often.
Third is the fact that we also experience two seasons when there is very little work at all and the companies with high over head and large payrolls to keep paying have to bank some money during the peak times to stay afloat.
These reasons are why most heating and cooling repair companies mark their repair parts up by 400 – 1000 percent or more.
Let’s say your gas furnace breaks down this winter because a hot surface igniter goes bad. You will most likely pay $200 or more even though the part only cost around thirty dollars and can be replaced in less than five minutes.
Is this fair? Of course not but it is the only way a lot of these companies can stay in business. If you have a problem this winter, ask the company how much the part actually cost them and you will likely get the answer that we charge by the job, not by the hour.
This is called flat rate pricing and is an outright scam. The idea behind this is to tell the customer the price of a repair and that no matter how long it take, you have the comfort knowing the price will not go up.
Problem is these repairs are inflated to cover the worse case scenarios and have incredible mark ups on the part. If you ask the company how much they paid for the part and they will not tell you then is it wise to allow them to take your money?
