Although granite is highly durable, you will need to be aware that in order to keep it looking it's best, you will need to seal the granite every so often.
Although there are plenty of other material to choose from that is cheaper (for example Formica) sometimes it is better to pay the extra because granite will simply last for years and years no matter how much cooking you do. If you are installing a new kitchen in your property in order to sell it, potential buyers will be especially pleased about having a granite kitchen countertop.
