The art of quilting was practiced since ancient times, but the patchwork quilting flourished in America. Quilting can be a hobby to some people but it can also be transformed into a possible business opportunity. With the help of a good quilting machine, you can produce good quality, colorful quilts.

Whatever you do, you should have a passion for it and it goes for quilting too. You have all the tools and equipment, but the creativity is yours and that's where you can have an edge over your competitors if you are commercializing your products. You can use various kinds of quilting materials, fabrics to get your work done as they will help you to get great blends of colors, shapes and designs.

The quilting thread that is used is very important factor in producing good quality quilt. As drawing board serves for a painter, the same way Quilting fabric serves for a quilter. Stitch different patches together to prove your creativity and produce a quilt with shades that is a treat to the eye.

Remember that using a thin cloth is not a good idea as it can slip and side. For most quilters, cotton is the favorable fabric. Cotton is soft, cool and creases set properly and it is easier to make a hand design with a good effect. Cotton is easily washable, may be these are all the reasons why most of the ancient quilters used cotton as their quilting material.
