Home is a place where a person spends most of the time of his or her life, feeling secure and comfortable. Home improvement is a process of altering structure of home environment or we can call it as renovation of the home. It not only includes changing infrastructure of home but also gardens, lawns and garages. While modifying the home environment, we should aware of home improvement goals and resources.

Home improvement generally includes:

• Painting of walls
• Wallpapering
• Installation and painting of wood panels
• Changing flooring, like carpets, mats, wood flooring, tiling, solid material flooring etc.
• Replacing windows and sidings
• Remodeling of kitchen and bathrooms
• Fencing, ventilation, improve air conditioning system
• Upgradation of electricity
• Waterproofing basements
• Soundproofing
• Remodeling of roofs

Nowadays, some professional associations provide architects, interior designers to the home owners. They suggest wonderful ideas to improve your home according to your budget.

While painting the walls, some basic things should be taken in consideration.
Before starting the painting, remove curtains, furniture from the room. Cover the floor with dustsheets. Wash walls with suitable detergent. The items needed to paint the walls and ceilings are:

• Suitable paint
• Small and large brush
• Roller
• Paint kettle/container
• Filler, Trowel
• Dust sheets, covers

To do the Wallpaper of the house needs correct preparation. The most important thing is to measure the height of the room. Choose appropriate wallpaper and tools for your room.

Wood panels should be painted carefully. It adds a special look in the room. Choose good quality paint for wood panels.

Kitchen Remodeling

The kitchen is a crucial part of your home. You can give a wonderful new look to your home just by remodeling your kitchen. In kitchen remodeling, you have to consider many small concepts. For example, in following areas, we can focus on remodeling our kitchens:

Appliances: Commonly used home appliances are Microwaves, Fridge, Oven, Cooking range, Exhaust fan, Juicer, Mixer, and Grinder.

Wood Cabinets: These are available in oak, pine, metal, maple, cherry, plastics. These are often used for storage and for kitchen items like utensils, containers of groceries etc.

Kitchen countertops are made up of wood, metal, marble, stone, granite, other solid surface, Formica.

Sinks and furniture: Water taps are available in broad range of metal like brass, steel, glass, plastics.

Proper lighting is necessary in kitchen. Lamps, fluorescent beam can be used in kitchen.

You can equip your kitchen by using single and double hung windows, skylight windows, casement.

Roofing Work

Roofing provides not only protection but support to the home. It protects home from heavy rains, air flows, heat. So the right roof material is necessary for your home. Roofing should be selected taking into consideration the weather, location of home and finally most important budget. Note, too, that nowadays there are many roofing different shapes available: Gabled, Front-Gabled, Cross-gabled, Side-Gabled are some of them.

While assembling the roof, there are some important things to remember:

Heat flow in and outside the building is controlled by insulation. Thermal insulation is an important factor. While selecting roof insulation, moisture resistance should be taken in consideration. Some of the insulation options are; mineral fiber, wood fiber, phenolic foam, polyurethane, cellular glass, polystyrene.

Top covers are used to protect roof components from UV rays, physical damage. Top covers are available in liquid gravel and pavers, applied coatings.
