Perhaps you heard about black mold and thought the white spots on the walls around kitchen sink are not molds. But you are wrong. Molds can be of many colors other than black. Based on their type molds can be white, grey, greenish and sometimes light pink as well.
It is always suggested to consider mold infestation very seriously. Any delay in taking right remediation can amplify the problem many folds. Small problem can basically be a symbol of a bigger trouble. When you find a small black patch and neglect it for the time chances are you would find yourself in a soup very soon. They may have occupied any other part of your home already.
Places like the non-visible part of sidewalls, ceiling tiles, crawl places, wallpapers, carpets etc. are very much susceptible to mold infection. When molds and mildews start growing in such places which are less visible, they often go unnoticed and grow rapidly. Hence, little mold growth can be an indication of a latent problem, so do not neglect them.
Take following actions as soon as you find molds in your house:
Inspect the house thoroughly:
As mentioned earlier, little mold growth can actually be the sign of a hidden problem. So inspect places like basement, kitchen and bathroom walls, sidewalls, wallpapers, the lower surface of carpets, window shutters, ceiling tiles and other places that are prone to catch damp.
Inspect exterior places as well:
An active mold growth somewhere around your house can also be the source of problem. So inspect your garden, upper part of the roof, lawn, crawl places, the line of plumbing work and rainwater pipe etc. for any manifestation of molds. Your mold removal campaign should include external places as well.
Consider consulting professional mold inspectors in your city:
If you find the problem to have grown extreme already, consider consulting a mold inspector. You may like to hear from them and perform as per their guidance and suggestions. Professionals help you find out the exact location of mold infestation and offer you the right remedy as well.
Purchase mold inspection kit to measure the severity:
If you want to address the problem yourself you can purchase mold inspection and mold cleaning kits. These kits come with user manual that helps you understand how to use it.
Decide if you can throw out infected substrates:
Once you have pinpointed the infected places and substrates, decide if you can throw away all or any of those things. For example, if the carpet has been worn and torn, you may consider trashing it and purchase a new one.
Kill molds with natural mold cleaning products:
Now clean molds with properly formulated mold cleaners. There are a lot of mold cleaning products available in the market. Use the one which is organic. People often think that the mold stain can only be removed by using bleach; when organic mold cleaning products can do the same more efficiently.
Moreover, organic mold cleaners can effectively prevent future mold contamination on the same places and same substrates. Bleach can remove molds for the time being; natural cleaning products can help you get rid of mold problem forever!
