Peter Gitundu Creates Interesting And Thought Provoking Content On Recycle. Read More Of His Articles Here HOW TO RECYCLE
Every day, we are being asked to conserve the environment. This is due to the fact that, the environment is becoming littered with waste products that do not decompose, hence making the world around us polluted. We must make sure that, there are measures we have put in place so that, much of the waste that comes from the materials we use does not harm the environment. One of the measures is to recycle.
Recycling simply means, to process something for reuse or to adapt or convert something to a new use. Recycling helps in such a way that instead of waste materials being disposed off, they are put into use in an area that would have called for use of new material altogether, leading to demand for more materials. One of the most recyclable materials is paper. Be it at home or in the office, paper can be recycled with much ease.
To do so, buy recycled paper and print on both sides as compared to printing on one side as many of us are used to. Statistics have shown that by recycling one ton of paper, we can save up to 17 trees. Fit your home or office with recycling bins. Once you have collected enough paper, you can take it to the recycling companies and have it recycled. Newspapers can also be recycled. Once you are done with reading the paper, leave it for someone else to read or simply find new use for it.
Other items that can be recycled include batteries, ink and toner cartridges and electronic items. It is sad to know that every day 700,000 cartridges are thrown out and nobody has thought of recycling all this material. Re-manufactured cartridges save up to 2.5 pounds of metal and save about half a gallon of oil.
