How to label your Tupperware. That is the question. Tupperware products are, for most of us, an investment in health and safety. They are also an easy way to save money. They protect health by keeping food clean and fresh. They provide safety by being unbreakable. And although the initial outlay may seem high, the products' long life, as well as the food that does not spoil, adds up to an easy way to save money.
But our question was: how to label your Tupperware. Since Tupperware products are an investment, you want to take care of them. You don't want them to get lost when you take them to a picnic, send them to school with the children, or otherwise let them out of your sight.
Label Tupperware Permanently
When a Tupperware piece goes out regularly, such as in a lunchbox, you may want to label your Tupperware permanently. You may want to personalize it with name, address, and/or phone number. This can be done in several ways.
1. Permanent marker: Blue, red, and black permanent felt-tip markers will label Tupperware readily, dry quickly, and last through years of use. Even in the dishwasher, your Tupperware products are likely to retain any labeling done with permanent markers. When it finally begins to fade, it is quickly renewed. Be sure you really want to label Tupperware permanently before using indelible inks. They stay put.
2. Electric engraver: A second way to label Tupperware permanently is to use an electric engraver such as is used to label possessions for easy ID in case of theft. The engraving tool has a depth adjuster. To adjust for soft surfaces, such as plastic, adjust the knob to the softest position. You will want to test first on a plastic yogurt container or other disposable object. Again, this will label Tupperware permanently.
FIRST AID: If you do mistakenly label Tupperware with a permanent marker or other indelible ink, there may be a way of removing the mark. It is not guaranteed, but it may work. There is a white board cleaning kit available that cleans permanent ink stains from whiteboard surfaces. The non-flammable formula is said to be suitable for use on plastics, tough on inks & adhesives, but safe for you and the environment. If you used permanent ink to label your Tupperware and changed your mind - or you put your name on your in-law's Tupperware - you could try this product. Be sure you wash the Tupperware well in hot, soapy water after using the whiteboard cleaner.
Label Tupperware Temporarily
What if you want to know how to label your Tupperware for a single occasion? You may want to take it to a party, or label something going into the freezer. You want to label Tupperware temporarily.
1. Tupperware labels: Tupperware can supply you with custom labels for your Tupperware. These are available from Tupperware consultants, and can safely be used to label Tupperware canisters, storage, and other pieces.
2. Removable labels: Office supply companies offer removable labels, some of which you can use to label Tupperware. Be sure you ask about the kind you are considering, as you do not want sticky residue left behind when you remove them.
Label Tupperware the right way according to the purpose of your labeling. Resist the impulse to grab a marker and write your daughter's name on a Tupperware tumbler as she's headed for the door. Think first! Be sure you want that name on there before you label your Tupperware.
