The sink is often used in the kitchen while preparing the food and in cleaning the dishes used while eating. It is not only in kitchens where sinks are used since it is also used in bathrooms. To keep the family's health in a good state and the food that we eat safe, the sink should be properly maintained. Keeping it clean does not simply make the house looking good but also keep the diseases from spreading.
Cleaning the exterior of the sink can be done by using detergent and leaving them for some time to remove any slug. Also, the sink should be kept dry more often once it is already used. Avoid that liquids would be kept in it for a long time since it may leave stain in the sink and taking the stain off may be a hard thing to do.
Scrubbing may also not always be advisable since some sink materials are delicate and it may be scratched. Common kitchen sinks are made of stainless steel. This type of material is easier to maintain and cleaning it would be easier. Try to find the best material that would suit your style. It is not enough that you have chosen the sink that looks good when you first bought it. The color may fade when you are already using it for some time, so the first consideration is the quality of the sink and its possible lifespan.
The main sink is not only the area that must be kept clean. The drainage pipes of the sink should be constantly kept free from any smell or clogs. This would not just make using the sink easier but also avoid getting germs and bacteria stay in the drainage.
In maintaining a clean drainage, always run hot water after you have used it. This will lessen the clogs along the tubes and also lessen the bacteria that may stay in the sink and its pipes. Once it is partially clogged, prompt action should be done so that more serious clogging in the future will be avoided.
Another way of cleaning the drain and removing bad odor of the sink is by pouring baking soda in the sink and hot water should be poured after it. Also, vinegar o lemon juice may be used and it should stay for 30 minutes in the drain. After which, hot water should again run through it. Also, clean first the plates or utensils used by removing the solids and oil since these are primarily clogging the sink. They should be put in garbage and not in the sink. Build-ups will be lessened when the sink is properly maintained and clogging materials would not be added. These wastes that clog the sink drainage should be definitely avoided.
A person may also use chemicals or natural solutions to clogged drainage. However, proper precautions in using these chemicals should be followed to avoid any danger in the part of the cleaning person.
Cleaning a sink and maintaining it clean is not just for keeping the house beautiful but more importantly it keep the people in it healthy and germ free.
