please make sure when dealing with a board up company that they are providing you with all necessary information and are bonded and licensed.  remember to get the following.

if the company can not provide you with  the following information do not under any circumstances allow them to enter your property or provide services.  do not provide credit card information and move on to the next company. 

please make sure that they advertise and give you.

1. an actual business address and phone number.  do not trust web pages that do not advertise an actual address. these companies usually just refer out the work and are simply untrustworthy.

2.  a board up business license.  the city of chicago is very strict and will fine a property owner if the board up is not done according to chicago code.  make sure you see an actual board up license.  a home repair license is not sufficient.  the city runs background checks on companies before they issue a board up license which insures the company is legitimate.

3.  make sure the company has been in  business for at least 5 years at the same location.  do not be fooled by a fly by night operation.  many companies open and close under different names. 

4.  make sure the company is an accredited member of the better business bureau.

4.  make sure that the trucks that arrive to provide services are lettered with the company you called to do the work.  many companies are simply referring the business out and do not run background checks and fail to meet the above criteria.
