Mitsubishi Mini Split System - Is It Your Best Choice In Air Conditioning?

More and more, the Mitsubishi mini split system is becoming a popular method for people to cool and heat their homes. So, what is this system and why is it so popular?

The mini split is a duct-less cooling and heating system that was developed and perfected by the Mitsubishi Electric Company to efficiently regulate the temperatures of homes and offices. The system has two major units that are connected to each other through refrigerant lines and, often, copper tubing.

One of the major units is installed on the inside wall of the home or office building and the other unit is installed against the outside wall of the home or office. The "outside" unit takes in air from the outside of the structure and blows it through the refrigerant line and tubing to the indoor unit which blows the now cooled (or heated) air into the room.

There are several major advantages to the Mitsubishi mini split system. The first is that it allows homeowners to install air conditioning units into homes that do not have air ducts installed. Another big advantage is that it allows for room by room temperature control, which means that there is not as much strain on your home's energy supply as you would have from a unit that would work to control the temperature of an entire house.

Finally, this AC unit does not pose the same threat of harm as other types of air conditioning units. Window-installed air conditioning units are known for leaking coolant and water or damaging the window frame, not to mention how noisy they are. This unit is installed into the wall itself and poses no such issues.

The mini split system from Mitsubishi is a solid option for homeowners who live in dwellings that do not have duct work already installed. This heating and cooling system is quick to install, easy to maintain and more cost efficient than other types of air conditioning and heating units that are currently on the market.

Is it feasible for me to buy and install a split A/C system myself? I built the house with radiant floor heating and ceiling fans, thinking A/C would not be needed. I'm a licensed gen. contractor but not an HVAC contractor. I've heard that us common folks are not allowed to buy a split system and self-install. Any advise?
