If you live in Florida, then you most likely have A pool enclosure. At some point you will need screen repairs to allow you to keep it bug free.
You'll notice as you go through the state of Florida that most, if not all of the swimming pools are protected with patios or pool enclosures. The main purpose of these apparatuses is to protect the pools from the mosquitoes that fly around in swarms all the time.
Florida provides a neverending mass of bugs, and so home owners don't have to deal with these bugs they build pool enclosures over thier pools. At times, just sitting on an uncovered porch is very challenging. Most things will break at one point or another and a screen repair will most likely happen sometime.
The material of which the screen is made is typically nylon with a plastic coating. The advantage of the enclosures, however, is that they are composed of aluminum, so they will not rust. You can pretty much bet the enclosure will outlive your house, unless a hurricane blows through and takes it out. What can you do if one of the screens starts to tear, or if they just begin to grey and appear old.
It's important to know what you're doing in order to do a screen repair on a pool enclosure properly. The aluminum that is used to frame the screen has a spline to hold it stretched from one end of the frame to the other. Specific tools are needed to make the spline stay in its spot correctly.
Lowes and Home Depot are popular destinations for do-it-yourselfers to purchase the materials they need for the job, but this can add to the home owners' aggravations, because the tools and materials they purchase are of inferior quality. Also, the screens from which one can choose are many and varied.
Where a standard screen repair needs an 18x14 mesh material, most of the time folks will choose to go with a 20x20 mesh material. The larger the mesh number, the smaller the holes are in the screen. People can also choose to use privacy screens when repairing their pool enclosures, and can also benefit from a shade giving screen known as the Sun Screen.
These screens can last between 8 to 10 years before you need to replace them, and you position them in the top of the pool enclosures. The screens of the panels that make the sides will go a bit longer, lasting from ten to twelve years before requiring replacement. A screen repair may have to be performed over time due to wildlife and yard maintenence equipment that may cause impairs.
Generally, the pool enclosures are found to be either bronze or white in color. The bronze color is found to be preferred by most people since the screws, as they weather, blend in somewhat better than the white ones. What it all boils down to is that you need to have pool enclosures if you have an outdoor pool in Florida, or you will not enjoy using your pool nearly as much. The hordes of insects will dine on you.
