Resin Chairs and Matching Ottomans

Manufacturers produce poly resin chairs from recycled plastic. Plants secrete a natural resin; synthetic resin has been so named because it behaves much like the natural substance. Resin patio chairs have become a popular prop for outdoor entertaining because they endure fairly harsh weathering and clean up well. They also require minimal maintenance to keep them in good condition.

When resin chairs grow dirty, you have several ways you can clean them. To remove surface dirt, your task may be as simple as wiping the chairs with a wet cloth. If you think more extensive cleaning is necessary, you can mix a soap-and-water solution; wipe the chairs and hose them down to keep any soapy residue from drying. Some people also use pressure washers to clean their resin patio chairs.

Light-colored chairs may pick up stains if they have sat in the weather, but stains should be easy to remove. Use a stronger cleaning solution. You can mix bleach and water, about one part bleach to nine parts water. Or use another cleaner you prefer. If your chairs are not white, it's never a bad idea to spot test a section that's not prominent, such as the bottom of the seat. A spot test ensures that your cleaner will not harm the coloring.

Resin chairs are only one of several types of furniture available. You can find sets of resin patio chairs and tables, even matching ottomans. Ottomans increase your flexibility when relaxing or entertaining guests. People can prop their feet up, but when they want to shift position, they can easily slide the ottoman out of the way. Flat ottomans can also serve as additional seats when you have run out of chairs. Some also make a table of the perfect height for young children sitting on the ground. All these ways of using ottomans make them an attractive addition to your resin chairs.

You can even find gliding ottomans to match resin gliders. Just like resin chairs, they hold up well to outdoor use and weather. You shouldn't need to spend much time maintaining them. When they get dirty, clean them the same way you would clean your chairs. Some people choose to bring their resin furniture into storage during winter months, but if you have no storage, resin should withstand snow just as well as rain.

Resin chairs and matching ottomans can give you more flexibility during parties and family gatherings. Because they do not demand frequent or extensive maintenance or seasonal refinishing, you can give your attention to the things of life that are important to you. When you notice that a cleaning does become necessary, wipe away the dirt, or wash and hose down the furniture. In more extreme cases, mix a bleach-and-water solution or use your favorite strong cleaner. Remember to spot test colored pieces to make sure that your cleaning solution will not damage the furniture. Take minimal care of your chairs and ottoman, and they should serve you well for a long time.
