ROOFING

Roofing is very important for your home in a number of ways. A roof provides structural support to your home while also controls air and heat flow, water ingress, and what is most obvious, provides surface protection. Generally, metal or asphalt roofing is done for homes depending on the needs. For this, the right material selection is very important to give you the required roofing solutions. There are various shapes of roofs that you can opt for during the roofing process, and you can go in for more exotic designs as well, if you desire so. Before deciding on new roofing, you should make sure you understand the costs involved and plan accordingly, since the cost involved in roofing varies greatly depending on the material, location, labour cost and also the time of the year. Therefore you should check with various contractors to get the best deal possible.

There are certain aspects of roofing that you should make sure your roof fulfils. Roof insulation is an important aspect, as this controls the heat flow into and out of your home. This provides efficient entrapment of heat within the house during winters and not letting the outside heat enter the house during summers. This, if done well, will greatly save you energy costs for air conditioning of your home. You should also make sure that an appropriate vapour barrier is installed that will limit the diffusion of moisture into the roof assembly. Finally, the top cover protects the underlying roof components from physical damage, so make sure it is properly selected.

If you want to go more modern and clean on the environment, you can go in for tiles that use solar energy to power your home. Though these are not common on a very large scale yet, this would greatly reduce your energy costs and help you to go green. You should also check with your local laws whether there is any additional credit or other benefits given for going greed with solar energy, so that you can make full use of these government policies. Though you will require a high initial investment for this type of roofing, you can save on energy costs later on by a significant amount. Of course it is essential to check your finances beforehand to make sure you can afford it.
