Stopping Airborne Allergies with an Air Purifier

The benefits of an air purifier to an allergy sufferer are sometimes hard to quantify in terms of how much such a unit can cost as the relief from serious allergic reactions to airborne pollutants is hard to place a price on. The need for either whole-home purifiers or single room units has increased as the indoor air we breathe has become increasingly polluted with airborne particles due to increasingly energy efficient and sealed homes and buildings.

There are a number of different types of air filters to choose from that will do a good job of cleaning the air including; HEPA filters, electrostatic air cleaners, ionic filters, and ultraviolet light filters to name a few. Any of these filters can be applied to a whole-house filtering system or used in a single room unit with equal effectiveness.

So just how do these filters help those who suffer from allergies? Airborne pollutants, particles, pollen, and pet dander are among the most common causes of allergic reactions and affect a large portion of the population. The answer to this problem is simply removing those particles from the air. Because this need has become so great many companies have spent large amounts of money on research and development of air purifiers.

As the technology has improved the efficiency of these air cleaners has increased. In fact HEPA filters can remove over 99% of the airborne particles that are moved through it. Even though no system is 100% efficient it is easy to imagine that some of these high filtration units can make quite an impact on relieving the effects of airborne irritants on allergy sufferers.

Air purifiers come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and prices. Deciding on which will work best for you will depend on your living environment, the size of the room or rooms you want to filter, and even the type of allergies you suffer from. One thing is certain if your suffer from airborne allergies, a good air cleaner will help you breathe easier and help you get relief from your allergies.
