Three reasons why uPVC Double Glazed windows and doors are vital for your home

Not quite as many people though are aware of the other ways that heat is lost through your home, your windows. Even when they are closed heat can be lost to the outdoors if you do not have adequate windows. Here are three reasons that double glazed windows, especially those with uPVC frames are recommended for all homes.

They keep heat in

Double glazed windows help keep heat within buildings as they have a layer of air between the two panes of glass, this helps let light in obviously but also keep any interior heat inside the house. This is vital during the winter months as whilst curtains or shutters are open any interior heat is lost through the windows very quickly, meaning that heating systems need to be either turned up or turned on more frequently, costing money.

They are more durable than other frames

The materials that uPVC windows and doors are made from are incredibly strong and durable. Traditionally doors and window frames would have been made of wood, depending on the price paid you would get different weights of wood, many doors are made from expensive, heavy wood to provide adequate security but all wooden doors and window frames will need regular maintenance to ensure that the wood doesn’t rot or become damaged by the weather over time.

They are more secure

As previously mentioned for wooden doors and windows the wood is susceptible to rotting or being easily damaged, uPVC is a much stronger material and has been used for exterior doors for a number of years now, initially there was not much variety in styles with many of the early variations being white. Now though they come in a variety of wood effect designs as well. All doors and windows have intricate locking mechanisms that are very secure. The doors especially have multi-point locking devices meaning that the door will stand almost any attempt by house thieves.

So when considering the security and value of your home double glazing is vital, not only will it keep your home warm and save on energy bills it will also make it more secure and attractive. This is especially true for people who are looking to sell or add value to their home as double glazing is now one of the main features that house buyers expect to come as standard.
