Using Lawn Light Stakes For Your Outdoor Christmas Decorating:
Lawn light stakes can be used with rope lights, C7 lights, C9 outdoor lights, and miniature lights to enhance your Christmas lawn decor. It is best to use extra long lawn light stakes that are made of a green flexible heavy duty poly-vinyl material. Using the lawn light stakes is the perfect way to quickly and easily line your driveway or lawn with lights at Christmas time.
To use most lawn light stakes simply push the light bulb holder down until it snaps into a 90 degree position. The two extended claws will hold the light bulb holder in place. Position your light strands on the ground where they are to be placed. Stretch the light cords out using them as a spacing guide. At each light socket, push the stake into the ground. Make sure that you measure the above ground extended light stake so all your lights will extend to the same height and make a straight line. If you are placing your lawn stakes into the ground that is frozen, use a screwdriver to make a starter hole for the light stakes.
Helpful Hints When Using Outdoor Light Stakes:
1. Begin by measuring the areas you want to decorate with lights. If you are using C-7 or C-9 outdoor lights you will need at least one light and stake per foot.
2. Locate your electrical outlets before installing your lights. Make sure that you have the proper Power Strips and Power Protection Supplies.
3. Estimate the electrical requirements for your installation. The total current draw in amperes can be estimated by adding the current of all the light strings that will be powered from one single outlet. The current rating of each light string should be marked on the product or its packaging. The number of Christmas light strings you can connect will depend upon the capacity of the circuit in amperes and what household loads are already connected to that circuit. The capacity of circuits in a house can usually be determined by looking at the rating of circuit breakers or fuses used.
4. To run electrical power long distances, use 25 Foot Grounded Extension Cords. or 40 Foot Grounded Extension Cords. Use grounded electrical cords of sufficient length to avoid stringing cords together. Try to anticipate areas where water or snow might accumulate and locate connections away from such areas. Connections are best located in sheltered areas, such as beneath overhangs. Be sure to secure cords against excessive movement due to wind, etc. Do not use any fasteners that have the potential to damage the cord insulation.
5. Inspect and test your light strings prior to installation. Do not use light sets with cracked insulation or damaged cords. Replace C-7 and C-9 bulbs only with Replacement Christmas Light Bulbs that have the same wattage and voltage rating as the original bulbs.
6. After using the lawn light stakes make sure you clean off the dirt that may be on the light stakes before storing them.
Your strings of lights should highlight or picture frame your yard, sidewalks or driveway. You can also place a string of lights around your major focal point or decoration to highlight it also. Adding decorative light strings will add that extra touch to your Holiday lighting decor. You will cheer up everyone that passes by your home during the holiday season.
