Have you been looking for a place that will meet the needs of every member of your family? Although Lakeland, Florida is home to nearly 90,000 people, it gives you the impression of being a small town with its friendliness. Whether you are interested in educational, cultural, or entertainment activities, you will definitely find places and events that will fit the bill!

Since Lakeland, Florida is between Tampa and Orlando, there are even more opportunities for things to do. Take Interstate 4 and before you realize it, you will be at the beach. Follow it to get to Disney World Orlando in half an hour or less. Many students enjoy spring break in this beautiful area every year.

What about checking out Epcot, Busch Gardens, Sea World, or Universal Studios? Don't forget that you could also visit Spaceport USA at the Kennedy Space Center or the Daytona Speedway while you are in the area.

Imagine leaving home in April with temperatures in the 40's only to arrive in Lakeland, Florida with summer weather in the 80's. Why let your teen travel to Florida with friends? Pack up the whole family and enjoy spring break together. Since it is spring, the humidity isn't high but the beaches are warm and wonderful. The evenings are cool and comfortable, but still warmer than you were at home. Air fare is less during this time of year so that is another plus.

Right in Lakeland, you can take your children to the Explorations V Children's Museum for fun and lots of educational experiences. At this awesome museum, they can act out roles of many different types of people. Perhaps one of your children has talked about wanting to be a firefighter when he or she grows up. Besides this, they can act out being a doctor, reporter, pilot, or an astronaut. What a fantastic opportunity that any child will love and never forget!

Make sure that you visit Cypress Gardens that offers all kinds of family entertainment on the 223-acre property. Besides all the entertainment, there are gorgeous botanical gardens and water ski shows. Have you ever been to a butterfly conservatory? Don't miss this one!

With 57 carillon bells is the iron and marble "singing tower" at the 128-acre spot called the Historic Bok Sanctuary. Besides all the beautiful flowering plants, you will be in awe of all the exotic birds and wildfire there. There is even a special gift shop there and a place to stop for a snack called the Carillon Café.

Lakeland has been around since the 1870's and began to grow after the railroad came to the town in 1884. Since that time, Lakeland has continued to grow and develop into a beautiful area. It is also considered the twin city of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada.

Although many people are under the impression that you must be wealthy to live in Florida, statistics have shown that the average household income in Lakeland is between $30,000 and $40,000 per year. Homes can be purchased there starting around $100,000. Average age of residents is 40, although approximately ten percent of the population is made up of senior citizens. While you are visiting Lakeland Florida, you might consider moving to this wonderful community.
