A vacuum cleaner bag is where everything a vacuum cleaner picks up is deposited. The original vacuum cleaner bags were heavy, golf-bag like sacks made out of thick, stiff canvas. They were made to be flexible and keep dust and debris removed from the carpet from escaping back into the air.
In 1920, the Air Way Sanitizer Company of Ohio introduced the first disposable vacuum cleaner bag. The new disposable vacuum cleaner bag was made out of paper and was supposed to fit perfectly inside of the cloth bag. These new vacuum cleaner bags kept the inside of the cloth bag clean so less dust and debris could be blown out of the vacuum and into the home again.
The only problem with these new vacuum cleaner bags was that every vacuum manufacturer was making their own bags to fit their own vacuums. All of these none reusable vacuum cleaner bags were made out of various kinds of paper. Nowadays, things are a little more organized.
Vacuum cleaner bags are replaceable and also work as a filter that traps any kind of dirt and debris that is sucked in by the vacuum cleaner hose. Once the vacuum cleaner bag is filled, it has to be replaced by a new bag which is not a difficult task. All you have to do is unfasten the vacuum's compartment and check the vacuum cleaner bag. If the bag is fifty or sixty percent full, then it is time for it to be changed. There might even be an indicator light that tells you when it is time to be changed.
The advantages of having a vacuum that uses vacuum cleaner bags is that the bags are not expensive. The vacuum cleaner bags aren't messy either. You should never have to come into contact with the dirt. All you have to do is slip the bag out, throw the old bag away and put a new bag inside the vacuum cleaner.
Vacuum cleaner bags should be changed once a month. You may need to change the vacuum cleaner bag more often if:
-You are cleaning a large area that is more than 2000 square feet and has wall-to-wall carpets.
-Your carpet is new and will shed for a number of months.
-Your pets shed a lot.
Remember that your vacuum cleaner bag should be well-matched with the model of your vacuum cleaner. Vacuum cleaner bags have two types, the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) type and the Replacement type. The OEM is the type of vacuum cleaner bag that can be bought directly from the manufacturer. The Replacement type is the type of vacuum cleaner bag that is manufactured by third party manufacturers.
